In Washington DC, Virginia Avenue is located in the northwest, southwest, and southeast quadrants of the city. The street splits DC’s grid pattern diagonally. There are three major airports that serve the Washington DC area and Virginia Avenue. The closest major airport is Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, which is 4 miles from the city center. The Washington Dulles International Airport is 26 miles from the city center and the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport is 33 miles. The Washington D.C. Metro rail system has numerous stations connecting Virginia Avenue. The Foggy Bottom Metro stop is close to the northwest section of Virginia Avenue, while the Smithsonian Metro station or the L’Enfant Plaza Metro stop are on the southwest stretch. The Metrobus is one of the easiest ways to travel around the city. This system connects Virginia Avenue – stopping at Foggy Bottom, L’Enfant Plaza and Federal Center SW stations among others – with the rest of the Washington DC. You can also get the DC Circulator from L’Enfant Plaza station, which is a shuttle bus service that links Virginia Avenue with the city’s main attractions.
