Area Information

East Midlands is one of the nine official regions in England and is a combination of the counties of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and a large part of Lincolnshire. The region is known for a number of bio-diversity parks including The Wash, Humberhead Levels and Coversand Heaths, while the BBC’s East Midland station also operates out of the area. Nottingham Forest FC and Leicester City FC are just two of the many well-known football teams from this region.

Business Information

East Midlands is a major hub for business with companies such as Rolls-Royce, Siemens, Alstom, Triumph Motorcycles and Ultima Sports occupying factory facilities in the area. Cummins has its engine manufacturing plant here while Cosworth and MAHLE Powertrain are based in an area called Motorsport Valley. They are joined here by other Formula One teams and manufacturers such as Mercedes GP, Force India and Mercedes Benz. Along with these engineering giants, other major corporations such as Silver Spoon and Carlsberg also have factories in the area alongside Walkers, Premier Foods and Whiskas. Many companies find the East Midlands to be a convenient central location to rent serviced office space.

Entertainment And Dining Out

East Midlands is a major entertainment hub with the likes of Rockingham Motor Speedway set in Corby, while Silverstone Circuit, Donnington Park and Mallory Park are some of the other major racing circuits in the area. There are a number of theatre, cinema and performing art venues in the region including many Odeon Cinemas and the ADC Theatre. East Midlands is a vast region containing many eateries that provide a variety of food from all parts of the world. Anoki offers excellent Indian food while Bon Appetit is all about different European flavours. Les Olives serves up all-Spanish menu and is well worth a visit.

Transport Information

East Midlands Airport is the largest international airport in the area while other smaller airports include Nottingham Airport, Leicester Airport, Sywell Aerodrome and Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield. The main railway links can be found at East Midlands Parkway and Newark North Gate stations and there are abundant routes available throughout the region. Taxi, bus and coach services offer efficient road transportation and several motorways, including the M6 and the M1, make driving to the East Midlands simple and convenient.
