Area Information

Cinisello Balsamo is a municipal area in the province of Milan that was formed in the year 1928 when two separate areas known as Cinisello and Balsamo were merged. The area was conferred with the honorary title of city in the year 1972. The word Cinisello is believed to originate from the Latin word ‘Cinis’ which means ashes, and is an apt indicator for the immensely fertile, ashen coloured soil in the region. The Church of Saint Ambrogio and Shrine of St. Martin Bishop are two of the most famous sights in the vicinity, attracting thousands of tourists each year.

Business Information

Its strategic location as one of the most important crossroads on the way to Milan from the Brianza area makes it an ideal place for trade and business. Ceramics, engineering and automotive are the main industries that have a presence in the vicinity and occupy the majority of the available office space here. The service sector is also a huge employer in the area.

Entertainment And Dining Out

The Marconi Theatre and Opera House in Cinisello Balsamo makes for a splendid evening of fun and entertainment. The city of Milan is only a short bus ride away and offers added entertainment options in terms of bars, cafes, theatres, cinemas and live music venues. The area has a large number of dining options including Michelin starred restaurants such as Baia Chia, which is famous for its Scandinavian cuisine. Other eateries such as La Cambusa for Mediterranean food and Al Vulcano for Italian food ensure that you always have a decent place to eat in the vicinity.

Transport Information

The central railway station in Milan is just located 10kms away and offers numerous routes throughout Italy and onward into other European countries. Buses leave from the square in Cinisello Balsamo regularly for the station. The Red Line of Milan’s metro network can be accessed from the station at Sesto S.Giovanni, providing access to nearby communes and towns. The Malpensa and Linate Airports offer international travellers multiple connections and are only a short bus ride away.
