This impressive building is in the business district, along with most of the portís navigation companies, plus banks and government offices. It is just 15 minutes from the centre of Limassol, the second largest city in Cyprus, has seen extensive development in recent years and become the Mediterraneanís biggest transit port. It took over that role from Famugusta when the latter became part of the islandís Turkish zone. Limassol is the base for many of the island's wine companies, serving the wine-growing regions on the southern slopes of the Troodos Mountains. The wines and cognacs have won international awards and are exported in large quantities. The city has about 350 industrial units producing goods in 90 categories, spanning dressmaking, furniture, shoes, drinks, food, print, metal industry, electronic devices, plastic wares and more.
