Offenbach, Germany is a city in the state of Hesse. It is located south of the Main River, beside Frankfurt. This city is part of the Frankfurt urban area and has the highest number of foreign residents in Germany. This area is historically tied to the leather industry. One city landmark is the Deutsches Leder Museum (German Leather Museum). This is also the home of the international leather fair. There are still many shops that feature leather goods.
Economy in Offenbach is based on electrical, electronic and information technologies, graphic design, and industrial design. MAN Roland printing machines is major employer in the area. This is home to the HfG Offenbach Design University and the Klingspor Museum. Offenbach is also the European headquarters of several companies including Honda, Hyundai Motors, and Kumho Tires. Sights to see in Offenbach, Germany include the neo-Baroque palace Büsingpalais and the Büsingpark, which are used as political offices. This renaissance palace built in 1576, is used today by the Offenbach Design University. The Frankfurt Airport (Flughafen Frankfurt am Main) is located 12 km (7 miles) from Offenbach. The airport has two train stations, one for regional and one for long-distance travellers. The S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 take 15 minutes from the airport to get to Offenbach. Many areas in Offenbach are pedestrian-only streets. The city is close to the autobahn and is connected by a major line of the S-Bahn railway system to Frankfurt. There is also extensive bus service.
