A suburban municipality in the Netherlands, Amstelveen is located in the province of North Holland. It is part of the metropolitan area of Amsterdam. The municipality of Amstelveen consists of the following villages and districts: Amstelveen, Bovenkerk, Westwijk, Bankras-Kostverloren, Groenelaan, Waardhuizen, Randwijk, Elsrijk, Keizer Karelpark, Nes aan de Amstel, and part of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. The area has retained a large green space with lots of parks and recreation areas in and around the town. There is a statue of Rembrandt overlooking the river Amstel, south-east from the Amstelpark, where there is a windmill open to visitors.
