Area Information

Warsaw is the capital city of Poland. It is located on the Vistula River. Nicknamed the ‘Phoenix City’ due to its endurance after many wars, Warsaw is the ninth most populous city in the EU. The city co-hosted the European Football Championship in 2012. The city has a variety of restaurants, bars and clubs, offering diverse dining, drinking and dancing experiences. Examples include the affordable kebab shops, milk bars, Vietnamese restaurants and fast food chains. Many of the city’s best bars and clubs can be found in the Old Town, ?ródmie?cie, and Mokotów.

Transport Information

The closest major airport is Warsaw Chopin Airport, which is 14 km (9 miles) from the city centre. Warsaw has three airports in total they include the main Chopin Airport, Warsaw Modlin International Airport situated 40 km (25 miles) away, and ?ód? Airport. Trains, buses and taxis connect the main all three to the city centre. Entering the Polish capital is also possible through the three main train stations, the most central of which is Dworzec Centralny. Other train options include suburban trains and the commuter railway. Warsaw is also reachable by regional and long-distance buses, called PKS. There are several options for getting around Warsaw including rented cars, taxis, and public transportation with bus routes, tram lines, and a Metro.
