Area Information

Oslo is the capital of the Scandinavian country Norway. It is located at the northernmost end of the Oslofjord. Oslo is the most populated city in the country. The nearest major airport is Oslo Airport. This airport operates international and domestic flights and is 50 km (31 miles) from the city centre. Another major airport in the area is Rygge Air Station, offering international flights from Rygge, 71 km (44 miles) from Oslo. Reaching the city centre from these airports is possible in several ways: Flytoget high speed express trains, NSB trains, buses and taxis. Trains from across Norway and from neighbouring countries terminate from Oslo Central Station. By car the city can be accessed on International highways E6 and E18. Services, such as Swebus Express, GoByBus, and Eurolines provide bus connections to the city. Car ferries from other Norwegian cities, Denmark, and Germany are also an option. Getting around internally is also very easy, as the city has a well-developed public transport system of buses, trains, metro, trams, and boats.
