Area Information

Beijing is one of the leading capitals of the world. This truly world class city is the capital of the People’s Republic of China. Beijing is the nation’s political, cultural, and educational centre. The urban area of Beijing is in the south-central part of the municipality. It spreads out in bands of concentric ring roads, of which the fifth and outermost, the Sixth Ring Road (numbering starts at two), passes through several satellite towns. It is located in what used to be a television factory that once produced the city's first black and white TVs.

Transport Information

The nearest major airport is Beijing Nanyuan Airport. This airport has domestic flights and is 21 km (13 miles) from the centre of Beijing, China. Another major airport is Beijing Capital International Airport, which has international and domestic flights and is 27 km (17 miles) from the city. Beijing is a transportation hub and has a well laid out network of roads, railways and two major airports. It is one of the largest hubs in China’s railway network. The city’s main railway stations are the Beijing Railway Station, the Beijing West Railway Station, and the Beijing South Railway Station, which houses the city’s high-speed railway station.
