Del Mar, California is a small beach city located north of San Diego. It is noted for it's beautiful beaches, especially the 15th Street Beach and Dog Beach. The town was started in 1885 but remained dormant until the early 1900's. It was not until the ritzy Hotel Del Mar opened in 1910 and began drawing Hollywood celebrities that the town started to be recognized. Since then, it has developed into a beautiful suburban coastal town.

Del Mar's main link to other cities is by highway. I-5, a main north-south artery, is on the east side of the city and connects Del Mar to San Diego and Los Angeles. For connections to other areas, the nearest airport is located in San Diego, a short drive of less than 20 miles.

Despite being the smallest incorporated city in the San Diego region, Del Mar does boast a historic downtown area with great value for office space. The lowest priced office space in Del Mar is located in the industrial parks along Jimmy Durante Boulevard while the highest priced spaces are located in the prestigious Del Mar Plaza.

The office vacancy rate in Del Mar, which was at 6% in 2008, is now over 13%. While this is still lower than the current 20% rate for San Diego County; the market continues to be soft. Because of the market downturn, there is virtually no new office construction starting in Del Mar. Despite that, the cost of an average lease has still dropped 3%.
