Pickering is a city in the Durham region of southern Ontario. Lying at the edge of Lake Ontario, it occupies the area east of Toronto. Its territories are also bordered by Markham, Whitchurch-Stouffville, Uxibridge, Scugog, Whitby, and Ajax. The southern part of the city is mainly suburban, while the northern area is used for agricultural purposes.
