Costa Mesa is a suburban city located near Newport Bay in southern California. Incorporated in 1953, it has a population of around 116,000 residents. While small, it is a diverse city with a strong retail base, and offers many recreational and cultural attractions.
Costa Mesa is served by the John Wayne Orange County Airport, as well as the Los Angeles International Airport. There are two AMTRAK stations - the Irvine Transportation Center and the Santa Ana Transportation Center. There is also public transportation offered by the Orange County Transportation Authority, which runs throughout the city. The San Diego Freeway, Costa Mesa Freeway and Corona del Mar Freeway all pass through the area.
Costa Mesa was essentially agricultural cattle grazing land until the beginning of the 20th century. The first business was established in 1909 - Ozmen's General Store - which also housed the area's first post office. The population began to swell in WWII when the Santa Ana Army Air Base was built nearby. After the war, many of the soldiers decided to make Costa Mesa their home.
Today, this city is a major industrial and retail center within Orange County. It is famous for its South Coast Plaza, a huge high-end shopping mall that ranks as the third largest in the entire United States. Costa Mesa is also a highly regarded educational community, home to Orange Coast College, Vanguard University, and the Whittier School of Law.
A popular historical landmark in Costa Mesa is the Estancia Adobe, located in the northwest outskirts of the city. Built around 1820 as shelter for cattle herders, it later became the home of Don Diego Sepulveda. The five acre site currently belongs to the city and is now a public memorial site.
If you are looking for shared or executive suites in Costa Mesa, there are several major development areas available. Prices for executive office space will range from $300 to $750 per month. In the $300 range, consider a suite in Newport Plaza. This building was constructed in the style of an early 19th century mission style village, complete with a series of courtyards that all flow together. Centrally located, the facilities include internet, manned reception, administrative services, air conditioning, meeting rooms, a kitchen area, and off street parking. At the high end of the rental spectrum you could rent a suite in The Business Centre, which is centrally located in the prime business, cultural arts and retail district of Costa Mesa. This 21 story stainless steel building is the second tallest in all of Orange County, and provides beautiful views of the city. Along with the amenities offered at Newport Plaza, The Business Center also offers state of the art 24 hour security.
