The Garment District is an area of New York City located in mid town New York. The Garment District is quite close to Grand Central Station and it is walkable by foot. If you do not want to walk, you can always take a cab over to the Garment District, and if you are up town or down town from the garment district you can take the subway. Most parts of the Garment District are accessible by the 1, 2, and 3 subway trains on Metro North. Penn Station is also conveniently located within the Garment District of NYC, a train station which has trains that travel into other states such as New Jersey and Pennsylvania. If you need to travel outside of the city to either of these states, keep in mind that this is the train station you would go to, as Grand Central Station may not have the train that you need.
The Garment District is home to many of the garment manufacturers in New York City. Many clothing designers live and work from their design firms in the Garment District. Certain fashion schools like the Parson's New School which has a strong fashion program which hosts Project Runway are located in the Garment District as well. The Garment District is also home to a beautiful Macy's, and quaint dining areas which are great for breakfasts and lunches if you are working in the city.
