Chicago Lawn, 70 Years of Unique Office Space Amid Historic Landmarks Founded by John Eberhart in 1871 the city of Chicago Lawn remained farmland until the 1920s and 30s. Populated by mostly German and Irish immigrants, Polish and Lithuanians soon followed. A mixture of Protestant and Catholic religions, it stayed a thriving neighborhood even during the Depression of the 1930s and 40s.
