Cupertino, California is in the thick of the high tech world called Silicon Valley. From its post WWII incorporation as Santa Clara County's 13th city in 1955 to the present day, Cupertino has been host to many heavy hitters in the technology boom that began in the 70s, including Hewlett-Packard, Tandem, IBM, Sun Microsystems and Symantec. The post-incorporation history of Cupertino can be tracked along the same trail as its growth in office and industrial space. In the early 1960s, 17 of Cupertino's largest landowners formed VALLCO Business and Industrial Park. At roughly the same time, 6 additional landowners sold to Varian Associates to create property that was later purchased by Hewlett-Packard. With Apple planning to expand its offices by building a new 50-acre campus, Cupertino will likely grow as it has always done, along with the expansion of its largest corporate players.

Cupertino now has over 10 million square feet of space suited to offices or research and development.
