Battery Place is a road that runs from Battery Park, curving along the Hudson River for a few blocks before ending at West Thames Street. Battery Place is the terminating point for 1st Place, 2nd Place, and 3rd Place. It was named to honor a subway station of the same name, which was on the Ninth Avenue and Sixth Avenue elevated train lines that were demolished long ago. Battery Place used to be located at the southern terminus of Greenwich Street at the north end of Battery Park.

Battery Place is served by a bus that runs along its length. It is also near a terminal for the Staten Island Ferry. John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia International Airport provide domestic and international flight service to the area. They are both less than 20 miles from the city.
