Seventh Avenue is also known as Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard when it is north of Central Park. This thoroughfare is on the West Side of the borough of Manhattan in New York City. Seventh Avenue may also be referred to as Fashion Avenue. This road is one way, southbound when it is below Central Park, and north of the park it becomes a two-way street. Seventh Avenue originates in West Village, at Clarkson Street. At this point, Varick Street turns into Seventh Avenue. Between 59th Street and 110th Street, 7th Avenue is interrupted by Central Park. Seventh Avenue intersects with Broadway and 42nd Street at Times Square. Artisans’ Gate is the 59th Street exit from Central Park, which takes you back to 7th Avenue. At the north end of the Park, beyond Warriors’ Gate, 7th Avenue runs in both directions through Harlem, where it is now called Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard. The street ends at the Macombs Dam Bridge over the Harlem River. From this point on, Jerome Avenue continues into the Bronx.

Seventh Avenue runs through the Garment District, an area which stretches from 12th Avenue to 5th Avenue and 34th Street to 39th Street. Seventh Avenue is often referred to as Fashion Avenue, for this stretch of the road. This street is also home to Carnegie Hall, the Fashion Institute of Technology, and AXA Center, which was originally labeled The Equitable Tower.

It also serves as a station for the New Jersey Transit service, and the Long Island Rail Road commuter trains. LaGuardia International Airport, which provides regional and international flights, is just ten miles away and John F. Kennedy International Airport is within sixteen miles.
