office space tribeca
The Tribeca district of lower Manhattan Island in New York City is an oasis of artist's lofts and trendy restaurants north of the financial district. The name "Tribeca" stands for "Triangle Below Canal Street", although the actual neighborhood is larger than the name would indicate. The entire area suffered after the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, but has recovered fully.
The former industrial buildings and warehouses that fill the area are a remnant of the garment trade which was once centered in the neighborhood. Mostly built in the mid- to late 19th century, these structures were in the Italianate or Romanesque Revival styles common in those eras. During the 1960's and 70's, these building were converted into loft apartments by artists and others who were attracted by the large living/working spaces and the low rents. Fashionable young families moved in next to populate the affluent neighborhood and good schools.
The Tribeca neighborhood has now become one of the hottest in the city, with many young professionals from the nearby financial district rubbing shoulders here with celebrities from sports and film. The Tribeca Film Festival was inaugurated in 2002 by Robert De Niro and runs each spring. Tribeca is home to the Woolworth Building, the Tweed Courthouse, and the Citigroup building. The Tribeca zip code is ranked as the twelfth most expensive zip code in the United States.
Most of Tribeca is a designated historical district, so that its older buildings cannot be replaced. Therefore, most Tribeca office space.
Executive suites with high ceilings and wood floors come with high prices, however, as would be expected for this trendy neighborhood in the most expensive big city in the country.
Some full-service business centers do exist, such as the Tribeca Film Center on Greenwich Street, which serves the entertainment industry. Monthly rentals begin at $500 to $1,600 per month, depending on the space and any extra services included. In the current market, landlords are offering concessions such as a month of free rent, so negotiation is advised.
