Area Information

The West Village is the western portion of the Greenwich Village neighborhood in the New York City borough of Manhattan. The area is framed by the Hudson River on the west and Sixth and Seventh avenues on the east. It extends from 14th Street down to Houston Street. The neighborhood is primarily residential, as well as constituting a multitude of small restaurants, shops and services. This area is sometimes known as "Little Bohemia”, and is the spiritual home of bohemian lifestyle on the West Side. The West Village offers classic artist’s lofts in residential towers throughout this area. The Meatpacking District at the north end of West Village is filled with trendy boutiques and night clubs.

Subway service can be found at: • 14th Street – Eighth Avenue station on Eighth Avenue; serving the A, C, E, and L trains • West Fourth Street – Washington Square at Sixth Avenue; serving the A, B, C, D, E, F, and M trains • 14th Street at Seventh Avenue; serving the 1, 2, and 3 trains • Christopher Street – Sheridan Square at Seventh Avenue; serving the 1 and 2 trains • Houston Street at Varick Street; serving the 1 and 2 trains Within one hour of West Village are the airports LaGuardia International and John F. Kennedy International. These two airports provide regional and international flights to and from the area.
