About Victoria Train Station
Named after Queen Victoria, one of the UK’s most famous monarchs, Victoria is an area made up of the streets that surround Victoria Station, close to Westminster. Victoria Station is one of the busiest travel interchanges in London, offering great transport links across the City and even throughout the UK. It is because of this that the Mayor of London named Victoria an ‘opportunity area’ in 2011, with plans for residential and commercial growth in the pipeline for the next few years. The area is home to the Victoria Palace Theatre, which has stood on the same site since 1832, although it has been demolished and rebuilt several times. Little Ben, a 20ft replica of Big Ben, stands outside the theatre and is another popular landmark.
Setting up your business here
Victoria is a transient location, owing to the large number of people travelling through each day. For this reason, the area is predominantly home to businesses based in the retail and travel industries, including shops, hotels and restaurants. Because of its proximity to a number of major tourist attractions, bring walking distance from Buckingham Palace and the Royal parks, there are excellent opportunities for passing trade all year round. A couple of the more well-known names in the area are New Scotland Yard, and Channel 4, which has its headquarters here.
