Ladbroke Grove is a prominent road in the Notting Hill area of west London, located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Until the mid-19th century, the area was largely rural and of little importance. At that time, James Weller Ladbroke initiated the development of the vicinity, starting with Ladbroke Estates and going on to develop other areas. Since then, the entire locality came to be known as Ladbroke Grove. Today it is the chief road through which the annual Notting Hill Carnival passes, attracting thousands of visitors and tourists every August. Other famous attractions in the locality include the Trellick Tower and Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising.
Ladbroke Grove is home to numerous businesses related to the legal and financial industries. Various solicitors, accountants, bookkeepers, lawyers, bankers and investment consultants rent office space in the vicinity. The area also has several retail outlets that benefit from the wealth of traffic to the locality. Some of these are accessory shops, florists, pet stores, tailors, cafes, restaurants, jewellers and sports goods sellers.
Entertainment And Dining Out
The Portobello Road market, which takes place every Saturday in the area, is a must-visit venue that will keep you thoroughly entertained throughout the day. Its various stalls and antique shops provide a flea market ambience that simply cannot be missed. For night-time entertainment, you can visit one of the several pubs in the locality such as Harlem or The Elgin. For a taste of exotic Spanish cuisine, you need to book a table at The Galicia. If traditional British fare is what you’re seeking you can satiate your cravings at the popular restaurant Cockneys Pie & Mash.
Ladbroke Grove is the main tube station that provides access to services on the underground network. Westbourne Park, Bayswater and Queensway tube stations also serve the area well. There are two chief railway stations that provide access to the mainline railway network, namely Paddington and Kensington Olympia. Several road and bus routes can be used to get to other parts of the city.
