About Kensington Olympia Tube Station

Kensington was granted Royal status in 1901, and is one of the most affluent areas in London. The area was originally granted by King William I to one of his favourite advisers, who later granted it to his Vassal Aubrey De Vere, according to the Domesday Book. Kensington is made up of a fashionable shopping district, with the tourist-friendly South Kensington occupying another area of interest. The Royal Albert Hall is based here, and is one of the most famous venues in the world. It is easily found in Kensington, directly opposite the Albert Memorial in Hyde Park. There are a high concentration of shops and museums in the area, offering great opportunities for both business and leisure activities.

Setting up your business here

Kensington is notable for its high number of small businesses. Over ĺ of the businesses based here employ five people or less, and a very small minority employ more than 50. For this reason, Kensington may be the ideal place for a small business or sole trader to set up shop, fitting in wonderfully with the eclectic nature of the area. Kensington High Street has a large number of specialist and unique shops, making the location ideal for a small shop owner, and offering great passing trade. Kensington is also home to the headquarters of major newspapers, including the Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, The Independent and the Metro. As a wealthy borough, and densely populated, there are ample opportunities for passing trade for any business located here.
