About Borough Tube Station
Borough is an area within the London Borough of Southwark, close to the southern banks of the River Thames. Borough is one of the oldest inhabited regions within central areas of London and it lies directly south of the City of London, which has been the commercial and economic centre of the city since it was established more than two thousand years ago. Borough, in fact, takes its name from an abbreviation of the Borough of Southwark, with the one-word term enough to distinguish the location from the City. Today, Borough lies close to the transport hubs of London Bridge and Waterloo in central London, and is renowned in part for its open air food market, which runs every day of the week except Sundays.
