About Bond Street Tube Station

Bond Street was named after Sir Thomas Bond, the head of a group of developers who urbanised the area in 1683. Where Bond Street used to be well known for its upmarket art dealerships and antique shops, it has since been taken over by fashion boutiques and jewellery stores. Bond Street is also known for a famous statue, named ‘Allies’ – depicting Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt talking on a park bench. Meanwhile, nearby Green Park began life as a swampy graveyard for the bodies of lepers from St James’ Hospital, but has since developed into a lush Royal park which completes a vast area of natural space in this area of the City.

Setting up your business here

Bond Street offers a variety of some of the most luxurious and upmarket brands in the City throughout its many retail stores and jewellers. For businesses looking to break into the luxury brands industry, this location couldn’t be more ideal, offering ideal networking opportunities and a thriving tourist trade all year round. The area is extremely affluent and attracts those with money, being home to Sotheby’s Auction House, Armani, Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein and Mulberry among others. Green Park is home to a great deal of Government offices and corridors, many dating back to the Cabinet War Rooms from World War II.

Things to do in Bond Street Tube Station

During the warmer months, one of the most enjoyable activities close to Bond Street is an afternoon in Green Park, which offers wide spaces of uninterrupted grass and trees. Unlike many of the other Royal Parks, Green Park is quiet and relaxed all year round, offering areas of quiet solitude and space for peaceful lunch breaks. During the colder months, the Handel House Museum is an inspired recreation and accurate refurbishment of the house in which George Frideric Handel lived, set at the exact site of Handel’s home. For evening entertainment, the London Palladium is close by, and is one of the most famous theatres in the world, whilst for more casual entertainment the Criterion Theatre is often home to some of London’s more bawdy comedy shows, and until recently played host to the Reduced Shakespeare Company. For relaxed business lunches, Carluccio’s is a casual but classy cafe, and for something a little more out of the ordinary there is Meatliquor, which serves American-style food in a dramatic gothic setting. For a memorable evening out, IceBar is a sophisticated bar, which just happens to be carved entirely out of ice.
