Located between the towns of Sheffield and Doncaster, Rotherham lies on the banks of the River Don, in the southern part of the county of Yorkshire. A major centre for iron-ore mining since Roman occupation, Rotherham experienced major development and expansion with the Industrial Revolution. Even today, a number of industries still work out of the area, reflecting the industrial past of the town. There are a number of places of interest to be found here, with Rotherham Minster, Clifton Park Museum and Catcliffe Glass Cone being major landmarks in the area. Bradford Airport is the town’s nearest link to air-travel. Rotherham Central Railway Station is the main railway station in the area, connecting the town to Swinton and beyond, along the Dearne Valley Line and the Wakefield Line.
