Hertford is a county town located in Hertfordshire, in the South of England. It is believed that the name of the town is of Anglo Saxon origin, in which ‘ford’ denotes a shallow place close to a small river or stream; often well frequented by stags, deer or harts. Being situated at the confluence point of four river valleys makes the entire area extremely beautiful and picturesque. Hertford Museum is a famous attraction in the area, offering a fascinating look into the history of the town. Other notable places of interest include the Bayfordbury Observatory and Bushey Museum and Art Gallery.
Hertford is famous for its numerous retail shops that sell collectables and antiques. Other retail spaces that have a local presence include salons, boutiques, chemists, laundries and shops selling novelty gifts. Larger chain stores such as Tesco and Sainsbury are also located in the vicinity. The McMullens Brewery continues to remain a major employer in the area, one of very few such establishments still left in the region. Office space is primarily occupied by businesses such as real estate agents and computer professionals.
