About Farringdon

The area popularly known as Farringdon refers to the streets in close proximity to Farringdon Station. Farringdon, meaning Ďfern covered hillí, is a historic area of the City of London, situated in Clerkenwell, within the London Borough of Islington. The area is bustling and busy and enjoys easy access to some equally important areas such as St. Paulís and Barbican. The famous meat market, Smithfield, at over 140 years old, is housed in Victorian buildings and can be found between Farringdon and Barbican stations. The area has, in recent years, become fashionable once again and boasts many eating and meeting places, catering mainly for those working in the City. The area is vast, and presents ideal networking opportunities for all types of business.
