A Charing Cross Office Space Guide

 

Charing Cross is a prestigious and high-priced location in the centre of London with excellent transportation and a multitude of desirable office space options. Located in the city of Westminster in central London at the junction of the Strand and Whitehall, Charing Cross is southeast of Trafalgar Square and south of Covent Garden.

 

The name refers to the former village of Charing, which was the site of a stone cross, called an "Eleanor cross", erected by Edward I in memory of his late wife, Eleanor of Castile. In 1647, the cross was pulled down by order of parliament during the English Civil War, and was replaced in 1675 by a mounted statue of Charles I which stands there today. The current cross standing near the railway station is a Victorian replacement in a very different design from the original. The original position of the cross is considered the absolute centre of London, from which all distances are reckoned.

 

Charing Cross contains the Charing Cross railway station on the famous Strand, with an office complex directly above it, as well as the Charing Cross station of the London underground. The National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery are both nearby, as are the varied nightlife and theatres of London's West End. Covent Garden to the north provides boutique shopping and excellent dining opportunities, while St. James Park allows the chance for a tranquil stroll. This prestigious location has attracted many large media and finance organizations which have made Charing Cross their headquarters.
