The village of Burnham is located in South Bucks in South East England. The village has a long history and is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it was referred to as Burneham. As in important village in centuries gone by, Burnham was granted a Royal Charter to hold an annual fair and weekly market in 1271. However, this was then transferred to Maidenhead when the opening of a bridge crossing the Thames diverse traffic away from the village. A number of places of interest and landmarks can be found in the village, including the ancient woodland area known as Burnham Beeches. You will also find the restored remains of a Benedictine abbey that was founded in 1265 but disbanded during the Dissolution of the Monasteries by Henry VIII.
