About Birmingham

Birmingham is the most populous city in the UK outside of London and is a major industrial, commercial and cultural centre in the West Midlands. Rated as a beta world city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network, Birmingham is an intensely active urban centre that sits right in the heart of central England. Visitors are drawn to the city for a wide range of reasons but not least because it has two of the busiest and best exhibition centres in the UK, namely the International Convention Centre and the National Exhibition Centre. Birmingham, though, is more than just a business hub, with plenty of cultural activity going on in the region as well at top class venues like the Symphony Hall and the National Indoor Arena.

Setting up your business here

As a location for businesses large and small, Birmingham benefits from its very central location within the geography of Britain. Travelling from the Midlands to London by train takes around 1hr 30 minutes, while Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Bristol are all within easy reach in different directions but all within roughly the same timeframe. Among the many businesses based in Birmingham are the property investment and development group St Modwen, train operators London Midland and the iconic British food brands Bird’s Custard and HP Foods.
