Angel is a district of Central London, part of the London Borough of Islington. However, it was originally an inn on the corner close to Pentonville Road. It is thought that Thomas Paine may have stayed at the inn in the 18th century upon his return from France, and the area was even mentioned by Charles Dickens in his iconic tale, Oliver Twist. The area today has a rich arts and culture scene, with a variety of theatres on the doorstep.
