About London Bridge

London Bridge generally refers to the area between London Bridge and Tower Bridge, on both sides of the Thames. The bridge that the area is named after has been rebuilt many times, with the latest incarnation completed in the 1970s, but a bridge has stood at this location since AD50 and was the first bridge to be built across the Thames by the Romans. Other than the bridge, the area is home to a number of historical sites, such as the Tower of London, and museums and attractions dedicated to the history of the area, including the Tower Bridge Exhibition. London Bridge Station is one of London’s largest and busiest mainline stations, offering transport links across the UK.

Setting up your business here

London Bridge is a designated business improvement district, with a number of developments and business opportunities already in the pipeline, and many more to come. Finance and retail industries are still the most prevalent in the area, with London Bridge being home to the UK headquarters of renowned businesses Ernst & Young and Norton Rose, but these are quickly being caught up by a diverse range of industries from media to commerce. There are over 300 companies in this area alone, and the location lends itself well to business, with a scenic riverside location, plenty of bars and restaurants and excellent transport links.

Things to do in London Bridge

London Bridge is an ideal location for both business and leisure activities, with a range of attractions and entertainment options for both day and night. During the day, the HMS Belfast is popular with locals and tourists alike, offering a close up view into naval history, and Southwark Cathedral is a beautiful piece of architecture close by. In the evening, besides the classic round of bars and restaurants, there is unique entertainment such as the Roxy Bar and Screen, which is an independent cinema and bar all in one and offers a really original night out. Shunt Vaults is a theatre that provides unpredictable entertainment for those with more eclectic tastes. For drinks after work, or more informal business meetings, All Bar One is situated right next to London Bridge Station and offers reasonably priced food and drinks, whilst Ruba Bar at the Hilton has a slightly more upmarket feel. Champor Champor is one of the most popular and well received restaurants in the area, with contemporary Thai cuisine served in a decadent and creative setting, and Elliot’s nearby has a casual feel, offering seasonal food at a good price, with no reservations necessary.
