Located on the south bank of the River Thames, Battersea is a flourishing community of businesses and serviced office spaces. While there are many brilliant locations in London to set up an office space, Battersea should be considered one of the best. Battersea was predominantly farmland prior to the industrial revolution. It was renowned for its crops of lavender, which is where Lavender Hill Road took its name. In 1929, construction began on the Battersea Power Station, which took ten years to complete. This historic building still stands, and is currently being transformed into an entertainment and commercial complex. Battersea was known as an industrial area through the 1970s, but most factories have since been torn down and replaced with apartment and office buildings.
Battersea is home to a beautiful 83 hectare park, right on the river, opposite Chelsea. Battersea Park currently houses the Battersea Evolution, a small zoo, a boating lake, the London Peace Pagoda, and various athletic facilities including tennis courts, a running track and football pitches. There is also a train station nearby with the same name.
The major business centre operators in Battersea include MLS, Workspace Group and Abbey. Since this is a very popular district in which to have an address, you will find that rental prices are quite high, especially in central Battersea. As you move more towards the outskirts, you will begin to find more independent operators who will be able to offer you more flexible terms and competitive rents. Hence you will find that the price per workstation ranges from £300 up to £1,100, depending on the location.
Towards the top of the rental scale, consider office spaces on Battersea Park Road, or Lavender Hill. The offices on Battersea Park Road are centrally located, with easy access to Clapham Junction Train Station, and only 10 miles away from the London City Airport. Flexible license agreements are available, which include secretarial facilities, conference rooms and a manned reception area. Lavender Hill offers luxury serviced offices with state-of-the-art technologies. It is within walking distance to the Clapham Junction National Rail Station, as well as the Northern Line of the Clapham Common Underground Station.
For less expensive alternatives, consider Plantation Wharf or Ivory Square. Plantation Wharf is near the Wandsworth Town Train Station, and offers office suites from 387-1,600 square feet with flexible terms. Ivory Square is a unique property with small but charming office space on two floors. It is also conveniently located near the Wandsworth Station.
