Ajman is the smallest of the seven United Arab Emirates. Each emirate is similar to a principality and is governed by it own emir. Ajman is centrally located on the western coast of the Persian Gulf. It offers access to 16 km (10 miles) of beach. The emirate is bordered by Sharjah, it is part of the Dubai-Sharjah-Ajman metropolitan area and includes the largely agricultural inland enclaves of Masfut and Manama. Ajman has recently experienced a growth in population, development, and construction.
Ajman was the second emirate in UAE to offer freehold property, resulting in a number of development projects, which include the New Ajman and the Ajman International Airport. The Gulf Medical University (GMU), with its own teaching hospital is located here. Other companies with office space or other facilities in Ajman include ANIG International, Continental Refined Oil Products Trading, Wail General Trading, AGE International, and Agri Business Solutions.
