Barnsbury is a residential suburb in the North London Borough of Islington (N1). Due to its rural characteristics, Barnsbury had links with Smithfield's Meat Market, and other agricultural sectors towards the end of the 18th century. Union Chapel (Compton Avenue, N1 2XD) is a Grade II listed Congregational Church and award winning venue all rolled into one. It’s partnership with the Margins Project also runs a drop in centre for homeless people, and provides food, shelter and training workshops. The London Canal Museum is also located in nearby Kings Cross (12-13 New Wharf Road, N1 9RT). This museum reveals the secrets behind London’s man-made waterways and allows visitors to take a trip down the canals on a narrow boat.
