Local Attractions
The Monument (Monument Street, EC3R 8AH) was designed by Sir Christopher Wren to mark the Great Fire of London in 1666, and remains the tallest freestanding stone column in the world to this day. Tourists can sample some stunning views over London by climbing the 311 spiral steps to the top of the column. If heights aren’t for you, then why not visit another historical building – Mansion House (City of London, EC4N 8BH), a Georgian Palace that hosts some prestigious City of London events, such as the Lord Mayor’s Show.
