Located in southeastern France, Valence is the capital of the Drome department. It is situated on the left bank of the River Rhône, 62 miles south of Lyon. Easily accessible from nearby Lyon and Grenoble, Valence is close to vineyards producing Crozes Hermitages, St Joseph, and St Peray varieties of wine. Airports near Valence include those of St Etienne, Marseille, Montpellier, and Nîmes. The Gare de Valence-Ville is the main railway station and is located just south of the town centre. There is a high-speed TGV rail line extending south from Valence to Marseilles, the TGV station is located seven miles northeast of the town. Valence has a public bike-sharing option called Libélo, which offers hundreds of bikes for either long-term or short-term hire. The service is available at many points throughout the city.
