Solna is a municipality within Stockholm County which is located in the eastern central part of Sweden, close to the city of Stockholm. The city is growing rapidly in terms of new urban neighbourhoods and planned high-rise buildings. The city is undergoing an urban planning program to make the downtown area of Solna more central to the city. In terms of landmass, Solna is the third smallest municipality in the country.

Employers in Solna include the Karolinska Instituet Medical University and the Karolinksa University Hospital. Solna contains some important architectural and cultural buildings for visitors to enjoy. Olle Olsson House is the home of the artist Olle Olsson who lived in Solna for the majority of his life. The house itself is a historical monument in addition to a place to view his art. The Solna Church was the primary church for the area of Stockholm in the Middle Ages. The church was built around 1180. Within the church there are two celebrated wooden sculptures that date from the fifteenth century and paintings from both Albertus Pictor and Petrus Malare. For a memorable dining experience be sure to visit the Ulriksdals Wardshus restaurant that cooks traditional Swedish cuisine. Located at Ulriksdals Royal Park, the upscale restaurant oozes ambience and serves a lavish smorgasbord. Meals are meant to be eaten as five courses and the restaurant is located right on Edviken Bay on the grounds of the Ulriksdals Royal Palace. Another romantic restaurant located in Solna, is the Bistro Straket which features outdoor dining in the summer months, and a Mediterranean style cuisine.
To reach Solna the closest airport is the Stockholm Arlanda Airport which provides international airline service. The airport is located near Marsta 37 km (23 miles) north of the capital city of Stockholm. It is the main gateway for international visitors to Sweden. Solna is a suburb of Stockholm and the airport is easily reached by the Stockholm commuter train system and a bus network. Plans to implement a tram system are underway. The suburb is located on the E4 roadway, the main road route in Sweden. This connects the city directly with Stockholm, Helsingborg in the south and Luleå in the north.
