The capital of Italy’s car manufacturing industry, Modena is located in the southern part of Po Valley, in the Emilia-Romagna region of the country. The city is known as the home of important landmarks from the region’s past, including The Cathedral of Modena and Torre della Ghirlandina. Ducal Palace is a major crowd-puller in Modena while Piazza Grande is always a popular hangout for tourists and locals. Along with several churches, Modena is also home to the Palace Museum, home of several art galleries with important masterpieces from famous artists. It is also the birth place of Italian legends like Enzo Ferrari and Luciano Pavarotti.

Modena is well known for its entertainment scene, especially in the classical genre. Opera venues such as Teatro Comunale Luciano Pavarotti host numerous famous performers while Teatro dell’Illustrissima Comunita is a popular performing arts venue. Along with entertainment, food is a major draw in Modena with local restaurants serving everything from authentic local delicacies to modern European dishes. Antica Moka is a place to savour the local cooking while Ristorante Europa 92 is all about contemporary European food. L’Erba Del Re turns Italian cooking into an art-form and Gelateria Slurp Torteria e Yogurteria is the place to go for tempting desserts.
Modena has a strong railway network with the Modena railway station being the main link to other parts of the country. There is a reliable bus service running through the city along with a number of private taxi services. The Modena trolley-bus system is another way of getting around.
