Area Information

The second largest city in Italy, Milan is considered one of the fashion capitals of the world and is a major commercial and financial part of modern Italy. Along with being home to two of the world’s biggest football teams, AC Milan and Internazionale, Milan is also home to the Santa Maria delle Grazie, Castello Sforzesco and Portinari Chapel football teams. The Basilica of San Lorenzo along with the Chiaravalle Abbey are well known landmarks in Milan’s history while Galleria Vittorio Emanuelle II and Navigli are symbols of modern Milan.

Milan is Italy’s financial capital, making a significant 9% contribution to the national GDP. The city is home to the European headquarters and offices of some major companies like Sky Italia, Telecom Italia Media and Pirelli. Transport Information

Milan has five major railway stations including Milan Central Station, which connect it to the rest of the country. Travel within the city is facilitated by the Milan Metro, a rapid transit system that connects almost all parts of the city. The suburban railway network offers an overhead rail link to various parts of Milan while road transport is aided by a combination of buses, trolley-bus lines and tram lines, along with an extensive network of taxis. Malpensa Airport, Linate Airport and Orio al Serio Airport are all within easy reach.
