An ancient town in the southern Italian province of Bari, Conversano has a recorded history that goes back all the way to the Iron Age. The area was once ruled by the Counts of Conversano, whose primary occupation was the breeding and rearing of magnificent stallions. It is believed that the area gets its name from a horse known as Conversano, which was a fine example of its species and was primarily responsible for the establishment of the Lipizzan breed of horses. Today, the area is a popular tourist destination, attracting hordes of visitors with its stunning castles and gorgeous churches.
Conversano is one of the best locations to be based when exploring the beautiful regions of Apulia and Basilicata.
