Deakin is a suburb of Canberra, in the Australian state of New South Wales. It is located 6 km (4 miles) from the centre of the capital city. Deakin is named after the second Australian prime minister. It borders Stromlo Forest, Capital Hill, as well as Yarralumla, and other suburbs. Deakin has a population of around two thousand and six hundred inhabitants, the majority of which are women. A main point of interest in the suburb is The Lodge, which is the Prime Minister’s official residence.
